Aeden’s Newborn Photo Session

A few days ago I photographed baby Aeden at 15 days old for a friend of mine, and we had such a great time posing him and chuckling at his little personality. To start, he seemed pretty awake with his eyes open looking around at the bright lights and strange person in his face– me. But eventually, he began to doze off with the help of mom’s voice and touch. Go mom! I did have to laugh a little when we tried to close his eyes for him, saying “go to sleep now Aeden…”

It’s fun to discover a baby’s tendencies, too. Even with their eyes closed, they tell you yes or no to certain positions, laying their little hands and feet where they feel comfortable. That’s why you never know what types of photos you might get with newborns. Aeden frowned at a hat we tried, and smiled while laying on his side (below)! And it always amazes me when I see their little toes up by their nose, reminding me that I need to go home and stretch more. All in all, it was a great photo session and I can’t thank the family enough for having me photograph their new addition.

Enjoy!

A Smile Assist

Family Photo

While taking a stroll with my camera I happened to hear a young family shouting to their sons eagerly, “Smile…SMILE!…” As I walked by I noticed one of the boys had endured just about enough of the heat, walking, cameras and everything else requiring motor functions. His parents shouted, “Oh come on…” and his brother leaned over and gently used each of his forefingers to form a smile on his brother’s face. Brotherly love I suppose you could call it. I just about burst into laughter at the sight of all this, but not before I grabbed a quick shot. And what I love most about this photo is that I didn’t need to tell you all this for you to just “know” what’s happening.

Everybody has had one of those moments when you’re simply done. Done talking, done walking, done thinking…done. But, wouldn’t it be nice if we all had someone who could be kind enough to give us a smile assist every now and then? Ya know, so people don’t think you’re a total grump.

Back in the Game

I’m getting back into the swing of things this week- visitors have left town, the dog hair has settled and the laundry is piled 5 feet high (literally). So you could say I’m back to my ole’ blogging self again. And, I’ve got a few more photos to share from my adventures in northern Florida, focusing a little more on shape and texture, so enjoy!

Footprints in the sand

Everyone likes to take a good footprint in the sand photo.

Family swimming in the sunrise

This family decided to take a dip in the early morning hours....smart.

Balconies

When I can, I like to find repetition in the things that surround us because we don't always see them this way.
