Seeing Past the Ordinary

One of our first projects in the photography class I’m taking is to photograph landscapes, including nature, cityscapes or buildings, and interiors. The field trip we took happened to be nearby our house as well, so the challenge for me was to photograph scenery and places I’ve seen and been to regularly.

I think these came out pretty good and are a little bit different than some of prior photos I’ve taken in the Winter Garden area. We’ll see what feedback I get on Monday, but I thought I’d post these here first. Enjoy!

This was taken in an old hotel lobby.

The Winds Bring Change

Yesterday’s storm swept through my backyard making everyone on the street pick up what they were busily doing to head inside their homes. I was on my way back from checking out what new creatures moved into the swamp nearby, so I got a good view of the storm as it blew over the fields. I, just like many other people, enjoy calm sunny weather, but it’s refreshing to see the clouds blow through, washing everything clean and bring about new growth. I also feel like the winds that bring heavy storms also bring about change– a change in your plans or a change in your mood, perhaps. Either way, I welcome the rain clouds, every now and then.

It’s the calm before the storm as the clouds roll in.

The sunlight is just about squashed as clouds seem to roll in from every direction.
