I was rummaging through our home office last night that has slowly started to become my room of things that I just don’t know what to do with, or things I’m not quite ready to throw away. What I did find were several bags of sea shells I had forgotten about. And me being me, I also found that on each bag I had labeled what beach the shells came from. Most of them had some significance relating to me and my husband’s first trips to those particular shores, but it’s also evidence that I’m a shell hoarder. Here are just a few.

Sand Key Beach, Clearwater, FL:
You’ve probably seen shells with perfect circular holes in them and wonder how they got there. Think of these shells with another half and closed, with a clam or an oyster inside. Then a mollusk comes along with a drilling-like tongue and begins to drill a whole down into the shell. Then it slurps out the dinner!
